Career Counseling

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes and no.  It would be perfectly normal for us to focus on career-related topics during a regular therapy sessions.  Some people are specifically looking for career counseling, though, which might entail different assessments to help you identify skills, interests, personality traits, etc.  There are many free assessments available, but some assessments have an additional cost.  Most assessments will be something that you complete outside our regular session.  Similarly, I will spend time outside of our regular session to review and interpret your assessments.

Oftentimes, people are interested in career counseling, because they have no idea what they want to do as a career, they have doubts about their chosen major, or they feel dissatisfied in their current job.  Together we can explore your interests, your skills, your personality style, and your preferred work environment.  We can look at potential career pathways and how to pursue them.  We can also work on the job search process, including resumes and interviews.

Step One: Make sure that your state is on the list at the bottom of the page. Dr. Belanger is licensed in Ohio, but she can also practice remotely in any of the PSYPACT states. If your state isn’t on the list, you might want to check to see if it will become a PSYPACT state soon.

Step Two: Contact Dr. Belanger to schedule an appointment.

After you schedule your session, you will receive an email with a link for our Teams Meeting. You will use that link to connect to our video session.

The first session will be a bit different than the rest and will only last 30 minutes.  We will start by going over the paperwork that you signed.  Then, we will talk about your specific needs and goals.

After reviewing your case, we will meet again for about 10 minutes (at no additional cost) to discuss your available options for career counseling and the associated costs.

Then, we can choose the best option for your needs and your budget.
